It’s very easy in our industry to talk about “properties”, “units”, “portfolios” and “stock”.
But behind every front door is somebody’s home.
It’s where you relax at the end of the day. It’s where your children might be playing. It’s where your belongings are. It’s your private space.
And we never forget that.
As managing agents, there will inevitably be occasions when members of our team need access to a property – perhaps for a routine inspection, a maintenance issue or another aspect of managing the tenancy.
There will also be times when we need to arrange for a contractor to attend.
We believe you should be able to feel comfortable about the people we’re asking you to welcome into your home.
That’s why DBS checks matter to us
A DBS check provides information about an individual’s criminal record, subject to the level and rules applying to that particular check.
Of course, no check can provide an absolute guarantee about an individual.
But for us, having appropriate checks in place is another layer of reassurance and another way of demonstrating that we take our responsibilities seriously.
That’s why the people working for Letting Solutions – and the contractors we instruct to attend our managed properties – are DBS checked.
It isn’t something every tenant will necessarily think to ask about.
We think it’s something worth thinking about.
Knowing who to expect matters too
Safety isn’t only about checks behind the scenes.
Good communication matters.
If we arrange for somebody to attend your home, you should know why they’re coming and, wherever possible, who you’re expecting.
And if you’re ever unsure about somebody who arrives saying they’ve been sent by Letting Solutions?
Don’t be embarrassed about checking.
You can contact our office and confirm that the visit is genuine before allowing somebody into your home.
We would much rather you check than feel uncomfortable.

Having access to somebody’s home is a privilege and a responsibility.
Whether we’re carrying out an inspection or a contractor is attending to complete a repair, we expect your home and your privacy to be treated with respect.
For us, good property management isn’t simply collecting rent, arranging repairs and making sure the paperwork is in order.
It’s about looking after people too.

Most visits to a rental property are completely routine.
But knowing that the person knocking at your door hasn’t simply been picked at random can make a real difference – particularly for somebody who may be elderly, vulnerable, living alone or simply nervous about allowing strangers into their home.
We can’t remove every risk from everyday life.
But we can make sensible choices about the people we work with and the standards we set.
And we think that’s simply part of doing our job properly.
